There is currently no vaccine to prevent coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).
The best way to prevent illness is to avoid being exposed to this virus.
Everyone Should:
-
Clean your hands often
-
Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds especially after you have been in a public place, or after blowing your nose, coughing, or sneezing.
-
If soap and water are not readily available, use a hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol. Cover all surfaces of your hands and rub them together until they feel dry.
-
Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands.

Avoid close contact
-
Avoid close contact with people who are sick
-
Stay home as much as possible
-
Put distance between yourself and other people.
-
Remember that some people without symptoms may be able to spread virus.
-
Keeping distance from others is especially important for people who are at higher risk of getting very sick.
Cover your mouth and nose with a cloth face cover when around others
-
You could spread COVID-19 to others even if you do not feel sick.
-
Everyone should wear a cloth face cover when they have to go out in public, for example to the grocery store or to pick up other necessities.
-
Cloth face coverings should not be placed on young children under age 2, anyone who has trouble breathing, or is unconscious, incapacitated or otherwise unable to remove the mask without assistance.
-
Continue to keep about 6 feet between yourself and others. The cloth face cover is not a substitute for social distancing.
Cover coughs and sneezes
-
If you are in a private setting and do not have on your cloth face covering, remember to always cover your mouth and nose with a tissue when you cough or sneeze or use the inside of your elbow.
-
Throw used tissues in the trash.
-
Immediately wash your hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. If soap and water are not readily available, clean your hands with a hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol.
Clean and disinfect
-
Clean AND disinfect frequently touched surfaces daily. This includes tables, doorknobs, light switches, countertops, handles, desks, phones, keyboards, toilets, faucets, and sinks.
-
If surfaces are dirty, clean them. Use detergent or soap and water prior to disinfection.
-
Then, use a household disinfectant.

We'd like to share some important information about COVID-19, the disease caused by the 2019 novel coronavirus. We have been keeping current with new developments and are actively taking steps for the health and safety of everyone at Canaan Church.
Governor Newsom advised a restriction on gatherings of more than 250 people, while smaller events can proceed only if the organizers can implement social distancing of 6 feet per person. Gatherings of individuals who are at higher risk for severe illness from COVID-19 (seniors, those with pre-existing conditions, and those with compromised immune systems) should be limited to no more than 10 people. We want to let you know what this means for our gatherings.
For some of us, this level of response might seem like an overreaction. For others it might not seem strong enough, based on what we’re flooded with on the news 24 hours a day. But regardless of your thoughts, the reality is people ARE getting sick, people ARE spreading it, and some people ARE even dying as a result.
This Sunday, March 21st, we're inviting you to our ONLINE ONLY gatherings at 11am. You can join us on Facebook Live. We'll continue to update you about future plans by text, phone call, social media, and on our website.
Here's what you can do:
• Pray! We believe in the power of prayer for healing, protection, wisdom, and provision. Let's keep our eyes fixed on Jesus.
• Hold a watch party! Invite your friends, family, and community, and join an online gathering together.
• All regular midweek and weekend programming will be streamed live on our social media platform.
• Stay connected! We want to stay in touch to give you encouragement and to share updates. Follow us on social media and update your information in our database.
• Stay faithful with your giving. With all the noise and confusion surrounding this season, it can be easy to forget or even withhold. But we need you to remain steadfast with your tithes and offerings. Your generosity supports ministries and missionaries both local and around the world. So please stay faithful with your giving. You can do so by mail to the church office. Online giving is currently being worked on and we will have an update soon
In all we do, let's be strong and courageous!
